ASD training equips 47 agri-dispensers in Region V

CAMARINES SUR | April 24,2023 – Forty-seven (47) participants from Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Masbate, Albay, and Sorsogon attended the Accredited Safety Dispenser (ASD) training at 2nd flr., Lanuza Hall, CBES Bldg., DA-RFO5 Cmpd., San Agustin, Pili, Camarines Sur on April 18-19, 2023.

 

Regional Officer (RO) Gabriel Atole spearheaded the 2-day training, which served as a support to the dealers who were found operating without licenses during inspections.

 

As instituted by the Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority (FPA), f/p dispensers should have proper training on dispensing fertilizer and pesticide products to assist farmers in the safe handling and storage of agricultural inputs.

 

Topics covered on the first day were general information on pesticides, proper handling, and understanding of the label of pesticide products, pesticide poisoning and first aid, pest management concept, and insecticide resistance management.

 

On the second day, the team highlighted the fertilizer concepts, the proper handling and storage, and the Balanced Fertilization Strategy (BFS) Program. The licensing requirements and good housekeeping were also discussed to prepare dealers for license applications..

 

Moreover, RO Atole addressed the reasons behind the fertilizer price hike and informed the participants of the list of off-spec fertilizers and pesticides circulating in the market that they needed to avoid./span>

 

The team was composed of RO Atole, Provincial Officers (PO) Winsor Nueva, Rosie Malazar, Christopher Nuñez, Cris Legaspi, Rodny Conda, Ardon Ryan Nee-Estuye and Regional Staff Mr. Louie M. Atuli. ###
