FPA’s Baylo Basyo Program convenes 28 f/p companies, 506 farmers in Leon, Iloilo

LEON, ILOILO | April 17, 2023 – Five hundred six (506) farmers and twenty-eight (28) fertilizer and pesticide companies participated in the Baylo Basyo Program on April 13, 2023, in Leon, Iloilo.

 

Baylo Basyo Program serves part of FPA’s product stewardship program in partnership with agri-industries, which aims to collect toxic pesticide containers from farmers to avoid inherent risk to the public and the environment due to neglect of these waste materials.

 

A total of 1,972 kg. of pesticide containers were collected during the said event.

 

Regional Officer (RO) Noel Negre discussed to the farmers how to identify fake fertilizers and pesticides. He explained the prescribed label format per type of packaging and product of fertilizers and pesticides.

Moreover, Mr. Bornie Galagate from Fertilizer and Pesticide Industry Association (FPIA) discussed the safe and judicious use of agricultural pesticides before, during, and after application to crops.

 

The program is a joint effort of FPA Western Visayas, FPIA, Municipal Agriculture Office, Sanggunian ng Bayan for Agriculture and Environment, and Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO). ###
