WARNING AGAINST THE PURCHASE AND USE OF FERTILIZERS, PESTICIDES, AND OTHER AGRICULTURAL CHEMICALS WHICH ARE FAKE, UNREGISTERED MISLABELED AND/OR HAVE EXPIRED CERTIFICATE OF PRODUCT REGISTRATION (CPR)
The Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority (FPA) warns the general public, especially the farmers, NOT TO PURCHASE AND USE the following products for they are unregistered, mislabeled, and/or have no valid or have expired CPRs, to wit:
- MACOTTA 16-20-0 (Annex “A”) and
- MACOTTA 14-14-14 (Annex “B”);
Section 8 of Presidential Decree No. 1144 (P.D. No. 1144) states that it shall be unlawful for any handler of pesticides, fertilizer, and other agricultural chemicals or for any farmers, planter or end-user of the same as the case may be:
( c ) To deal in pesticides and/or fertilizers which have not been previously registered with FPA, or which registration has expired or has been suspended or revoked;
Section 9 of the same law also provides that no pesticides, fertilizer, or other agricultural chemical shall be exported, imported, manufactured, formulated, stored distributed, sold or offered for sale, transported, delivered for transportation or used unless it has been duly registered with the FPA or covered by a numbered provisional permit issued by FPA for use in accordance with the conditions as stipulated in the permit.
Considering that the above-mentioned products have not gone through the evaluation process of FPA, the agency cannot assure their quality and safety. Hence, all concerned establishments are warned not to distribute, advertise, or sell the aforementioned product, otherwise, appropriate penalties and sanctions shall be strictly imposed.
To verify if a certain product is registered with FPA, the list of the registered products can be accessed at https://fpa.da.gov.ph/resources/reports/registered-products.
All FPA’s Regional and Provincial Personnel, Law Enforcement Agencies, and Local Government Units are requested to ensure that these products are not sold or made available in the market or areas of jurisdiction. Moreover, the Bureau of Customs is urged to restrain the entry of unregistered imported products.
