The LSD’s current organizational structure is presented in Figure 1.  The LSD as approved under FPA Rationalization Plan in 2012, is composed of two (2) laboratory sections namely, Fertilizer Analytical Services Laboratory (FASL) Section and Pesticide Analytical Services Laboratory (PASL) Section. The FASL Section has two (2) subunits which are the Chemical Analysis Unit and the Microbial Analysis Unit.  


LSD was created to support the standards-setting and regulatory functions of FPA. LSD ensures that the fertilizer and pesticide products being registered strictly conform with established standards and specifications. As such, LSD has the following functions: 


a. conduct/ perform chemical and microbial analyses of fertilizer and pesticide samples for product registration and quality monitoring purposes;

b. establish laboratory protocols, working procedures and quality assurance on the analytical testing of fertilizer and pesticide products; and

c. assist in the preparation of technical materials on fertilizers and pesticides for policy formulation.
