PILI, Camarines Sur | June 9-11, 2026 — The Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority Regional Field Unit V (FPA RFU V) conducted a series of regulatory and extension activities from June 9 to 11, 2026 in Pili, Camarines Sur, bringing together more than 100 agriculture stakeholders to strengthen compliance, capacity building, and responsible agricultural input management in the Bicol Region.
The three-day initiative aimed to enhance coordination among local government units (LGUs), farmer organizations, rice clusters, and industry stakeholders while reinforcing the implementation of fertilizer and pesticide regulations at the grassroots level.
The program opened on June 9 with a consultation meeting attended by municipal and city agriculturists, rice focal persons, and report officers to discuss regional concerns, regulatory updates, and strategies to improve agricultural support services.
This was followed by the Safe and Judicious Use of Fertilizers and Pesticides Training for Irrigators’ Associations, which focused on proper handling, application, and management of agricultural inputs to help farmers maximize productivity while minimizing risks to human health and the environment.
On June 10 and 11, FPA RFU V conducted the Accredited Safety Dispenser (ASD) Training for rice cluster representatives to strengthen community-level capacity in the safe distribution and responsible use of fertilizers and pesticides.
The activity concluded with the Fertilizer and Pesticide Industry Stakeholders Meeting, providing a venue for dialogue between regulators and industry players on emerging concerns, compliance requirements, and opportunities for collaboration.
Participants included Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs), municipal and city agriculturists, rice focal persons, officers of irrigators’ associations, LGU representatives, rice cluster farmers, and fertilizer and pesticide industry stakeholders from across the region.
“These engagements are crucial in bringing FPA services closer to our farmers and ensuring that agricultural inputs used in Bicol are safe, effective, and compliant with existing regulations,” said Gabriel Atole, Regional Officer of FPA RFU V.
The series of activities forms part of FPA’s continuing commitment to strengthen stakeholder engagement, improve regulatory compliance, and promote sustainable agricultural practices. As the agency moves closer to its 50th year of service in 2027, FPA remains steadfast in advancing farmer protection, environmental stewardship, and agricultural productivity through agile regulations and innovation.
