Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya | October 1, 2026 – The Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority (FPA) Cagayan Valley strengthened its engagement with agricultural stakeholders in Nueva Vizcaya through a consultative meeting on September 29 at the DISADECO Hotel in San Nicolas, Bayombong.

The meeting brought together 40 participants, including representatives from the Provincial Agriculture Office (PAO), Municipal Agriculture Offices (MAOs), rice focal persons, agricultural technicians, and other stakeholders. Discussions focused on regulatory concerns, fertilizer price developments, and measures to address the distribution of counterfeit and unauthorized agricultural inputs in the province.

FPA Provincial Officer for Nueva Vizcaya Roselle Anne L. Jose discussed measures to identify counterfeit and smuggled fertilizer and pesticide products and highlighted the role of local agricultural stakeholders in monitoring the distribution of agricultural inputs.

“To combat this, we need your cooperation and unending support in outlining strict enforcement strategies aligned with the FPA’s core regulatory mandates and programs,” Jose said.

Jose also emphasized the need to monitor the licensing and registration status of fertilizer and pesticide handlers operating within the province. She encouraged Municipal Agriculturists to support monitoring of agricultural input distribution in their respective areas and help identify establishments operating without the necessary licenses or registrations.

The meeting also provided an avenue to discuss fertilizer price developments in the region in relation to changes in global supply and market conditions.

Meanwhile, CropLife Philippines presented its “Balik Basyo” program, which promotes the proper management and collection of empty pesticide containers. The organization encouraged local stakeholders to support the development and implementation of local ordinances that would strengthen the program in their respective areas.

In his closing message, FPA Cagayan Valley Regional Officer Leonardo A. Bangad underscored the importance of sustained coordination among the FPA, local government units, and other agricultural stakeholders in addressing the illegal sale and distribution of fertilizer and pesticide products.

Bangad noted that stronger collaboration among stakeholders helps protect farmers, promote safe and compliant use of agricultural inputs, and support food safety and food security in the region.
