FPA CAR monitors f/p handlers in Apayao, conducts ASD training for agricultural inputs

PROVINCE OF APAYAO | August 16, 2023 – FPA CAR conducted a two-day Clean-Up Drive (CUD) in Lower Apayao last August 8-9, 2023, and an Accredited Safety Dispenser (ASD) training requested by DSWD SWAD-Apayao Office for DSWD Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) recipients.

A total of 18 fertilizer and pesticide (f/p) handlers were monitored during the surprise inspection in Lower Apayao Province to determine compliance with f/p handlers operating in the area.

The team issued Notice of Violations (NoVs) to two (2) unlicensed handlers and advised them to attend the ASD training along with the five (5) handlers without a trained safety dispenser in the store.

In addition, the activity was used to renew outdated licenses to operate in Pudtol and Sta. Marcela, Apayao.

Following the operation, 54 individuals underwent ASD training on August 10-11, 2023, with most participants coming from 12 DOLE-registered groups and DSWD SLP recipients.

The ASD training is a two-day activity wherein individuals selling agricultural inputs were trained on the proper dispensing of the products. They also carry the responsibility to help farmers in the safe use of these inputs.

The training is in collaboration with DSWD SWAD-APAYAO and PLGU-Apayao. ###
