LEGAZPI CITY, ALBAY | July 20, 2023 – Forty-three (43) fertilizer and pesticide dealers were inspected during a Clean-Up Drive (CUD) operation in the Province of Albay on July 11-14, 2023.

Out of the 43 handlers, 22 unlicensed dealers received Notice of Violations (NoVs) for not having an Accredited Safety Dispenser (ASD) and License to Operate (LTO) as a dealer.

As stipulated in Presidential Decree No. 1144, there is a need to educate the agricultural sector on the benefits and hazards of agricultural inputs to avoid the dangers to health and environmental pollution.

Hence, fertilizer and pesticide dispensers from establishments caught in the CUD were enjoined to attend ASD training as a requirement to secure a license.

To facilitate accreditation and licensure application of dealers with NoVs, FPA Bicol conducted an ASD training at Albay Provincial Cooperative Building, Cabangan, Camalig, Albay, last July 18-19, 2023, which served 45 participants.

Further, the team warned all dealers to avoid purchasing off-specification products from companies with suspension orders and advised them to randomly weigh in fertilizer bags before receiving the products.

Also, the participants were reminded to only patronize FPA-registered products to ensure quality and safe inputs.

Regional Officer Gabriel Atole led the operation along with Provincial Officers Rodny Conda, Christopher Nuñez, Rosie Malazar, Cris Legaspi, Winsor Nueva, and Ardon Ryan Nee-Estuye. ###
