FPA XI shares good agricultural practices to various commodity players in Davao Oriental

MATI CITY, DAVAO ORIENTAL | May 5, 2023 – The Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority (FPA)- Davao Region served as a resource speaker during Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) training at Honey's Hotel, City of Mati, Davao Oriental last May 4, 2023.

 

GAP, as defined under Republic Act No. 10611, refers to the practices that address environmental, economic, and social sustainability for on-farm processes, resulting in safe and quality food and nonfood agricultural products.

 

Provincial Officer (PO) Junette Cano discussed the two (2) modules of PhilGAP, namely Environmental Management and Worker's Health, Safety, and Welfare. She highlighted the potential hazards or negative environmental impacts of agricultural inputs and the proper management of these risks to the farmers and workers.

 

Moreover, PO Cano reminded the participants of the proper use and handling of agricultural inputs, the appropriate wearing of PPEs, and the importance of understanding pesticide label information.

 

Twenty-five (25) commodity players from Davao Oriental Seed Producers Cooperative (DOSEPCO), and Banaybanay-Lupon Rice Millers Cooperative (BALURIMCO) attended the said training. ###

 

The said event was organized by the Department of Agriculture (DA) Davao Region Phil. GAP team.
