87 individuals receive training on proper dispensing of agricultural inputs in Ilocos Region

BAUANG, LA UNION | APRIL 28, 2023 – Eighty-seven (87) individuals from four (4) provinces in Ilocos Region attended the Accredited Safety Dispenser (ASD) training of the Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority (FPA) Region I at Hotel Ariana and Restaurant, Brgy. Paringao, Bauang, La Union last April 19-20, 2023.

Regional Officer (RO) Joseph Andre John Martinez explained Presidential Decree 1144 and highlighted the processes of acquiring a license to operate as a fertilizer and pesticide dealer.

Meanwhile, Provincial Officers (POs) Melecio Choschos, John Mark Manangan, Medardo B. Santiago, Christian Fortin, and Noel M. Tablada discussed the proper handling, packaging, and storage of fertilizer and pesticide (f/p) products, first-aid management to avoid pesticide poisoning of the handlers, and correlations between soil, plant growth, and fertilizers.

The team also promoted the Balanced Fertilization Strategy as an alternative way to lessen the dependency on commonly used chemical fertilizers and give enough balanced nutrients for plant growth.

ASD training is a prerequisite for securing a license to operate as f/p dealer. It aims to equip store owners/proprietors, Individual Business Owners (IBOs) on the proper dispensing of F/P products. ###
