    Immersing in the field and strengthening collaboration with the industry

    To provide a first-hand experience to the staff from the FPA Central Office Divisions, an observation of aerial spraying and a technology-demonstration of drone spraying were conducted in Tagum Agricultural Development Company, Inc. (TADECO). This activity was led by Deputy Executive Director for Pesticide Eric C. Divinagracia and the FPA Regional Office 11 together with FarmFix Solutions, Inc. and TADECO. Moreover, an immersion in the TADECO banana plantation from production to packaging was held to raise awareness and appreciation for the banana export industry. A visit in the f/p dealer Agway Chemicals Corporation was also conducted.

    Boosting the knowledge and skills of industry manpower

    The FPA-Regional Office 4 led by Regional Officer Ms. Leticia Hernandez organized a training on Accredited Safety Dispenser of Fertilizer and Pesticide (ASD) in Lipa City, which aimed to educate stakeholders on the Presidential Decree 1144; general fertilizer and pesticide information; handling and storage; transport and distribution; poisoning and first aid; and other related topics on the regulation of fertilizer and pesticide.

    Strengthening collaboration with industry players and stakeholders

    The FPA-Regional Office CAR headed by Regional Officer Mr. Reynaldo Segismundo held a meeting with the CropLife Philippines Executive Director Edilberto De Luna, the Crop Protection Association of the Philippines (CPAP) Regional Area Network (CRAN), and other crop protection industry stakeholders to strengthen collaboration of the FPA and the industry in the field.

    The FPA-Regional Office 1 led by Regional Officer Mr. Balao Vicente together with FPA Executive Director Wilfredo C. Roldan were invited to join the Annual Meeting and 25th Anniversary of the Association of Fertilizer and Pesticide Distributors, Dealers and Outlets of Pangasinan (AFPDDOP) in Urdaneta City. “We are among the four pillars of the Philippines fertilizer and pesticide industry – the FPA; the industry, of which you are part of; the academe; and the farmers. Without harmony and cooperation among us, achieving our goals will be a more challenging task,” said Dir. Roldan in his opening message.

    Enforcing the law and fulfilling the mandates in the field

    The FPA-Regional Office 7 headed by Regional Officer Mr. Arnulfo Arausa, Jr. conducted a joint monitoring and inspection activity of expired products with the Bohol Technicians Association; Leads Agricultural Products Corporation; Bayer Crop Science, Inc.; Aldiz, Inc.; Allied Botanical Corporation; Sinochem Crop Protection Philippines, Inc.; Atlas Fertilizer Corporation; Tropi-cuke Inc.; RR Marketing; Agway Chemicals Corporation; and Jardine Distributor Inc. This aimed to fortify the collaboration of the FPA with industry stakeholders in the field.

    FPA celebrates a successful conclusion of 2017

    The Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority (FPA) held its Year-End National Conference 2017 at the Torre Venezia, Timog Avenue, Quezon City. Participated in by the FPA staff from the Central, Regional and Provincial Offices, the activity aimed to highlight the 2017 accomplishments and budget utilization of the Agency as well as its 2018 plans and targets. “As your Father, I encourage all of us to level up on our operations and trainings and to always do our best…We are one family, we are one FPA,” said Dir. Roldan in his welcome remarks.

    Enhancing the knowledge and skills of the FPA personnel

    In collaboration with the Pesticide Management Council of the Philippines (PMCP) Foundations, Inc. and the Philippine Association of Certified Pesticide Applicators (PACPA), the Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority conducted a training course for Responsible Care Officer for the FPA Field Units to strengthen their knowledge and skills in implementing the FPA mandates on monitoring and enforcement of regulations in the field.

    Upholding the Data Privacy Act for good governance

    The Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority has invited Dr. Rolando Lansigan, Chief of the Compliance and Monitoring Division of the National Privacy Commission (NPC) to conduct a seminar on the Data Privacy Act (DPA) of 2012 which aimed to tackle important DPA aspects on awareness, breach management, compliance, data protection officer and security measures.

    Gearing towards an ISO-certified FPA

    In compliance with the requirements for certification to the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS), the Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority conducted its first internal audit on the Fertilizer Regulations Division (FRD) processes and operations. A management review was also held to finalize the QMS Manual and the conduct of the internal audit.

    The FPA-Planning, Management and Information Division (PMID) together with FPA Executive Director Wilfredo C. Roldan convened with the four trainings associations namely, Philippine Association of Entomologists (PAE), Philippine Association of Certified Pesticide Applicators (PACPA), Philippine Association of Professional Fumigators, Inc. (PAPFI) and Pest Management Council of the Philippines (PMCP) Foundations, Inc. to finalize the schedule of trainings for 2018 and other related matters.
