THE average retail price of four fertilizer grades in July rose by as much as 13.54 percent compared to year-ago levels, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA). The average dealers’ prices of the four fertilizer grades at the national level generally went up in July 2018 compared [to] their levels in the previous month and in July 2017, said the PSA  in its monthly report titled “Updates on Fertilizer Prices.” The average retail price of urea in July rose to a 28-month high of P1,022.66 per 50-kilogram bag, 13.54 percent higher than the P900.70 per bag quotation recorded a year ago. The PSA observed the highest price of urea in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) at P1,293.33 per bag, while the lowest price was recorded in Ilocos region at P938.13 per bag. he average retail price of complete fertilizer in July was pegged at P1,110.25 per bag, according to PSA. The fertilizer cost P1,108.68 per bag in June and P1,091.09 per bag in July 2017. The PSA said the highest price of complete fertilizer was recorded in ARMM at P1,366.67 per bag, while the lowest was registered in South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat and Sarangani, plus General Santos City. (Soccsksargen) at P988.75 per bag. The July average retail price of ammosul was pegged at P600.03 per bag, 7.34 percent higher than the P559.02 per bag average quotation in the same period of 2017. The figure was also 1.21 percent over the P592.88 per bag average price level recorded in June. All regions, except Soccsksargen and ARMM recorded higher prices in July 2018 than in the previous month. The national average retail price of ammophos in July reached P938.62 per bag, which was 0.90 percent higher than the P930.21 average quotation in the previous month. On an annual basis, the figure was 3.84 percent higher than the P903.90 per bag price level in July 2017.
