02 October 2018 : Product quality and adherence to safety
As one of the regulatory agencies of the government, FPA ensures the quality of agricultural inputs through inspection at Phil. Ports Authority led by Region XII Regional Officer Alita C. Bornea and Provincial Officer Vincent Joey Pascua. Thorough assessment before the unloading of the cargo from the vessel, briefing of FPA mandate, validating the documents issued to the importer, signing of legal documents, and actual inspection were administered conscientiously.
03 October 2018 : Product quality and adherence to safety
An onsite inspection of Experimental Use Permit (EUP) bio-efficacy trial of VPO fortified organic fertilizer was conducted last October 3 in compliance with PD 1144 and its Implementing Rules and Guidelines (IRR) in Rosario, Agusan del Norte led by Region XIII Regional Officer, Mr. Danilo S. Negre.

Southern Isabela and Quirino Provincial Officers Leonardo Bangad and Robert Salvador respectively administered, “Good Agricultural Practices” for vegetables” to reinforce safe and judicious use of pesticides at San Antonio, City of Ilagan, Isabela. This is in line with the fulfilment of the FPA’s mandate to educate the agriculture sector on the risks and disadvantages of misusing these products.

Region 2 Provincial Officer Leonardo A. Bangad conducted a seminar on responsible use of agricultural pesticides and Insect Resistance Management (IRM). The seminar was participated in by the farmers of Kasibu, Nueva Vizcaya which was also sponsored and facilitated by the Local Government Unit of Kasibu and FPA Region 2.
16-17 October 2018 : Product quality and adherence to safety
To ensure that all fertilizer and pesticide products being handled and sold by licensed dealers are registered with the FPA, Regional Officer Henry M. Fonda and Provincial Officers II- Henry C. Cayaban, Jr, Robert V. Salvador, and Arwin A. Cardenas conducted a Clean-up Drive to the dealers in Quirino Province, FPA Region 2. This endeavor is part of the regular monitoring and enforcement activities of the FPA.
16 October 2018 : FPA-Fertilizer Regulations Division is now an International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001:2015 certfied
After undergoing pre-certification activities to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS) to become a continually-improving and customer satisfaction-driven government body, the Fertilizer Regulations Division (FRD) is now an ISO certified. The certificate was received by the FRD Chief Ms. Julieta B. Lansangan on October 16, 2018.
17 October 2018 : Product quality and adherence to safety
Sampling and random weighing of fertilizer were administered in some of the major warehouses in Caraga Region. This is to address the concern of local farmer sectors, Provincial Agricultural and Fishery Council (PAFC), and Regional Agricultural and Fishery Council (RAFC) on the underweight of fertilizers being sold in the area.
18-19 October 2018 : Phase 2 of records and archives management seminar-workshop
The Fertilizer and Pesticides Authority (FPA) conducted a two-day in-house training on records management entitled, "Records Disposition Administration" at the 4th Floor, FPA Building, BAI Compound, Diliman, Quezon City. The seminar-workshop was participated in by the FPA staff from the central and regional offices. The seminar-workshop focused on the scope of R.A. 9470 or an Act to Strengthen the System of Management and Administration of Archival Records, Establishing for the Purpose the National Archives of The Philippines, Inventory of Records, and Records Disposition Administration.

FPA Davao Team together with different speakers led by Provincial Officer Imelda Q. Rasay, organized a training on Accredited Safety Dispenser (ASD) of Fertilizer and Pesticide for 52 trainees. Resource speakers shared their knowledge and ideas in order to educate the participants on the P.D. 1144; general fertilizer and pesticide information; handling and storage; transport and distribution; poisoning and f1rst aid; and other related topics on the regulation of fertilizer and pesticide products.

To educate the 40 rice farmers on FPA's mandate as well as the risks and disadvantages in misusing crop protection products, Provincial Officer Cherubin M. Alonzo conducted a lecture on Safe and Judicious Use of Pesticides. The said training was held in Brgy. EJC Mantilla, Tacurog City, Region XII.

A number of agricultural students from the University of Southeastern Philippines Mabini Campus attended the training on "Safe and Responsible Use of Crop Protection Products". The lecture was administered by Bayer Crop Science together with FPA Davao team with the theme, "Safe Use Ambassadors". It aimed to educate the students with the safe and proper use of Crop Protection Products. FPA updates and inspirational message were given by Provincial Officer Rustom Gain A. Tanduyan of Davao Oriental, Region XI.
22-25 October 2018 : Product quality and adherence to safety
Deputy Executive Director for Pesticide Eric C. Divinagracia together with Pesticide Regulations Division's OIC Jacqueline M. Romualdez and Region XI team inspected and monitored 44 handlers across the region. This was resulted to the issuance of one (1) notice of violation (NOV) to one dealer due to no date of formulation. To ensure handler's compliance with FPA, regular monitoring is being conducted throughout the region and constant reminders for proper fertilizer repacking practices for dealers are given.

In his supervisory visit to Region 5, Executive Director Wilfredo C. Roldan gave courtesy call to Director Elena B. delos Santos, Department of Agriculture Regional Field Off1ce Director in Region 5. He also conducted a routine inspection in one fertilizer warehouse .

FPA-Regional Office OIC Marissa G. Napalit participated in a 4-day training conducted by the Philipppine Association of Entomologist (PAE) for Accreditation Training on Responsible Care Off1cer (ARCO), Certified Pesticide Applicator (CPA), and Researcher held at El Bajada Hotel, J.P. Laurel Ave., Bajada, Davao City. She lectured on FPA Regulatory Policies and Guidelines on Testing and Registration of Fertilizers and Pesticides and other Agrochemicals. Other resource speakers lectured on the guidelines in the conduct of bioefficacy evaluations of Fertilizers and Plant Growth Regulators, Fungicides and Plant Growth Regulators, Supervised Pesticide Residue Trials, Evaluation of Herbicides, Insecticides and Adjuvants, and other protocols. A total of 36 participants for ARCO, 27 for CPA, and 21 for researcher attended the said training. The FPA-PMID administered the FPA examination on October 26, 2018 headed by Ms. Lorna Japon.

F PA-Regional Office 1 Provincial Officers Joseph Andre John O. Martinez, Rogelio B. Tanguid, Melecio L. Choschos, and Noel M. Tablada organized training on Accredited Safety Dispenser (ASD) of Fertilizer and Pesticide in Marand Beach Resort Bacquit, Bauang, La Union. The training which was attended by 57 participants aimed to educate stakeholders on the Presidential Decree 1144; general fertilizer and pesticide information; handling and storage; transport and distribution; poisoning and first aid; and other related topics on the regulation of fertilizer and pesticide.
24 October 2018 : Enhancing the expertise and skills of industry manpower
Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office IX (DA R FO-XI), Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI), Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA), and FPA Regional Office XI participated in Philippine Good Agricultural Practices (PhiiGAP) training at Malagos Garden Resort, Calinan, Davao City. The Environmental Health, Worker's Health, Welfare and Safety were among the three modules being discussed. University deans and professors from the different state universities in Mindanao participated in the said training. After which, dialogues with the academe also took place.

Region XIII Regional Officer, Mr. Danilo S. Negre lectured on the proper and safe use of fertilizers and pesticides with the abaca farmers from the locality of Bgry. Bangayan, Kitcharao, Agusan del Norte. Integrated Pest Management (IPM), integrated nutrient management, and balanced fertilization strategy were also discussed. This training is in coordination with the Philippine Fiber Industry Development Authority (PhiiFIDA).

Region IV Regional Officer Leticia R. Hernandez along with TNT Boys (Turo ng Turo, Timbang ng Timbang, at Tingin ng Tingin) Mark Nicky S. Larga, Edmar C. Bundalian, Allan Jade V. Rojo, Froilan T. Banaga, and Dexter O. Leynes led a clean -up drive in Marinduque. Through this activity, two (2) unlicensed handlers were identified and apprehended to attend the Accredited Safety Dispenser (ASD) Training to be conducted on November 21 -22. At the end of the clean-up drive operation, Marinduque was found out to be FPA MC12 (Memorandum Circular no. 12 or Provision of Trash Bin for Empty Pesticides Bottles and Containers in All Licensed FPA Establishments) 100% compliant.

Provincial Officer Cherubin M. Alonzo conducted a lecture on Safe & Judicious Use of Fertilizers & Pesticides at Brgy. Kalandagan, Tacurog City, Sultan Kudarat. His lecture focused on PFA MC12 which is the Memorandum Circular no. 12, a Provision of Trash Bin for Empty Pesticides Bottles and Containers in All Licensed FPA Establishments wherein farmers are requested to bring their empty pesticide containers to all FPA Dealers store for proper disposal.
