5 & 19 July 2018 : Campaigning for the Safe and Judicious Use of Fertilizer and Pesticide Products
FPA Sultan Kudarat successfully organized two batches of seminars on Safe and Effective Use of Pesticides conducted on two dates: July 5 and 19. These were participated in by farmers located in the area. This particular education and information drive was coordinated with the Office of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) of Tacurong City. Mayor Lina O. Montilla graced the event. Cherubin M. Alonzo is FPA’s Provincial Officer of Sultan Kudarat.

In the service of the Filipino farmers, FPA CARAGA Region happily obliged to the request of the Department of Agriculture Region XIII to conduct an orientation on the proper, safe and judicious use of pesticides. The participants were corn farmers and corn seeds producers applying for GAP certification.
10 July 2018 : Stakeholders’ dialogue and partnership towards growth and productivity
Reynaldo Q. Segismundo, Supervising Agriculturist for Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), spoke during the Orientation on Regulatory Laws To Local Chief Executives and Stakeholders in CAR. He talked about Presidential Decree (PD) 1144, the law which created the FPA and the role that it plays in agricultural development. He also shared the various rules, regulations and orders to see to it that the public is kept safe from the inherent risks of pesticide. The activity was held at PVET Training Hall, Bangued, Abra.
10 July 2018 : Working towards an improved FPA Quality Management System
With excitement and guarded hope, the Fertilizer Regulations Division underwent the Stage 1 of its ISO 9001:2015 Certification. An opening meeting with TUV Rheinland was held with Mr. Rolando Remitar as the Stage 1 auditor. The scope of the one-day external audit includes the registration of fertilizer, human resource, general services, top management and internal audit. The ongoing ISO certification is one of the deliverables of FPA for the year in order qualify for a Performance Based Bonus (PBB).
10 July : Campaigning for the Safe and Judicious Use of Fertilizer and Pesticide Products
Top Agro, in coordination with FPA Davao Oriental, organized an information dissemination campaign among the local farmers of Banaybanay municipality as part of the company’s Product Stewardship Program (PSP). The Stewardship Program is a commitment by the company to provide information and awareness on the proper application and disposal of pesticide. FPA Davao Oriental is headed by Rustom Gain A. Tanduyan.
11 July : Enforcing the law and fulfilling the mandate in the field
The FPA CAR, headed by its Supervising Agriculturist Reynaldo Q. Segismundo, conducted a thorough Clean-Up Drive operations in the provinces of Abra and Benguet. This is one of the major enforcement activities of FPA to determine whether the dealers are selling only legitimate, quality and affordable fertilizer and pesticde products. This activity would not be possible without the active support of his provincial officers.
11-12 July : Updating the knowledge of industry professionals
The FPA Region XII Team composed of Supervising Agriculturist Alita C. Bornea and her provincial officers organized an Accredited Safety Dispenser Training which was held in EMR Convention Center, Koronadal City. Around 50 participants successfully completed the two-day seminar. This is a requirement if one has to be an ASD Officer of his or her company.

As part of its mandate, FPA CARAGA Region conducted monitoring and inspection of the different dealers of fertilizer and pesticide in the Siargao Islands. This activity was led by Supervising Agriculturist Danilo S. Negre.
12-13 July 2018 : Updating the knowledge of industry professionals
Around 70 distributor and handler representatives successfully completed the two-day Accredited Safety Dispenser (ASD) Training held at Villablanca Hotel, Tuguegarao City. This was organized by FPA Cagayan Valley Region headed by Supervising Agriculturist Henry M. Fronda.
12-13 July 2018 : Enforcing the law and fulfilling the mandate in the field
Despite the inclement weather, FPA Davao Region Team led by OIC-Imelda Q. Rasay pushed through with its scheduled two-day Clean-Up Drive and information dissemination in Digos City and Bansalan Municipality. Both are within the province of Davao del Sur. Moreover, "Gabay para sa wastong paggamit ng Abono at Pestisidyo" were distributed to the farmers and reminded them of the proper use of agricultural inputs. The Davao Team also took the opportunity to observe the locals’ practices of harvesting Chinese pechay.
17 July 2018 : Enforcing the law and fulfilling the mandate in the field
Danilo S. Negre, Supervising Agriculturist of CARAGA Region inspected the plantation of Lapanday Foods Corporation located in Trento, Agusan del Sur. The scope of the inspection includes storage and warehousing of pesticides, handling by the workers, and disposal. This is in compliance with the directive under PD 1144.
17 July 2018 : Campaigning for the Safe and Judicious Use of Fertilizer and Pesticide Products
Cherubin M. Alonzo, FPA’s Provincial Officer of Sultan Kudarat, gave a thorough lecture on the Safe and Judicious Use of Pesticide among BAFC/MAFC of Isulan. This activity is part of a larger program of FPA to continuously educate the public about the proper handling of pesticide products. This will not be possible without the active participation of the Municipal Agriculturist Office of Isulan.
17 July 2018 : Continuing institutional partnership with acadame and industry experts
The Fertilizer Policy Technical Advisory Committee or FPTAC held a meeting at the University of the Philippines-Los Banos to discuss the latest fertilizer issues and concerns including the revision of the Blue Book. Present during the meeting were Executive Director Roldan, Juliet Lansangan, Rowena Reyes, Maribel Querijero and Mark Kevin Salita. Representing the academe and experts on the other hand included Dr. D. Angeles, Dr. E. Paterno, Dr. Gina Villegas, Dr. Roel Suralta.
18 July 2018 : Campaigning for the Safe and Judicious Use of Fertilizer and Pesticide Products
The FPA Region IX, headed by Alex S. Paalisbo was invited by the local government of Titay, Zamboanga Sibugay, to give an orientation on GAP on Pesticide Management. Most of the participants were the rice farmers and pesticide applicators in the municipality. There are now five (5) barangays oriented about Pesticide Management namely: Brgy. Palomoc, Achasol, Bangko, and Namnama. Moreover, FPA also shared info materials to the participants including the proper way of maximizing the benefits of chemicals while minimizing their harmful effects.
19 July 2018 : Continuous improvement of knowledge through education and training
FPA Cagayan Valley Team (Region II) initiated a meeting with company technicians located within the region. The training was conducted in Isabela.. Educating the industry stakeholders is one of the mandates of FPA to ensure safe and affordable pesticides to the public. The Team is headed by Supervising Agriculturist Henry M. Fronda.
19 July 2018 : Enforcing the law and fulfilling the mandate in the field
The FPA Southern Luzon Team (Region IV) composed of Supervising Agriculturist Leticia R. Hernandez and her provincial officers conducted a Clean-up Drive operation of fertilizer and pesticide handlers. Their itinerary included Bondoc Pensinsula all the way to Tagkawayan, Quezon. They did this despite the threat of Typhoon Inday in the area.
19-20 July 2018 : Updating the knowledge of industry professionals
Forty-three individuals, representing their respective companies, actively participated in the Accreditation Training for Safety Dispensers (ASD) organized by FPA Region XI, led by OIC Supervising Agriculturist Imelda Q. Rasay. The participants were gladly welcomed by the host city, Davao. The ASD Training is an ongoing program of FPA to make sure distributors comply with the standards set forth by FPA in order to protect the public from risks inherent pesticides. The provincial officers helped in organizing the seminar.
25-26 July 2018 : Updating the knowledge of industry professionals
FPA Region V Supervising Agriculturist Lilia S. Latumbo led her provincial officers in organizing the Accredited Safety Dispenser (ASD)Training held in Catanduanes. Attendance to this program is a must for distributors and other handlers in order to comply with the standards set forth by FPA.
31 July 2018 : Ensuring compliance with the law through monitoring and inspection
FPA Region VIII Team composed of the region’s Supervising Agriculturist, Francis B. Costas and his provincial officers conducted a random sampling and weighing of fertilizers in the region. The inspection is part of FPA’s mandate to assure the public of adequate, safe, and affordable supply of fertilizer in the country.
